Laura Secord
Laura Secord is a very well known Historical Figure. Laura Secord is known as a "Canadian Hero" for her endless bravery and courage. Laura was born in 1775 and lived a simple life until 1812, when her husband (James Secord) had been wounded in the War of 1812. Laura had cared for James while the war was still going on. One afternoon in 1813, American officers came to the Secord house and asked for a meal. While Laura was serving their meal, she had listened closely on the conversation. The Americans were discussing to launch an attack on the British. Since the Secords were very loyal to the British Laura decided to deliver this new to Fitzgibbon herself. That morning at dawn she had started her 32km journey. Laura was a long way through her journey when she came across a native camp. Laura had persuaded the Native Chief into taking her to the destination. After Laura Secord arrived at the British headquarters, she delivered the news, two days later(June 24, 1813).The British battled with the Americans. This shows that Laura Secord was an important historical figure. If Laura never told the British about the Americans attack, Canada might not have been the same.
